IAAF Academy Diploma

Coach Tan completed the first part of the 2013 International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Academy Diploma (Sprints and Hurdles) course, held in Bradenton, Florida, USA on 4-18 December, 2013. The submission of a report for an 8-month unsupervised practicum in Singapore will complete the course in 2014.

The IAAF Academy Diploma for Elite Coaches is the highest recognized achievement attainable in international athletics coaching. The holder of such a Diploma is recognized around the world as a coach who is not only highly experienced but has the knowledge to coach at the highest levels of the track and field profession.

What makes this particular course special is that it will be conducted by the preeminent names in track and field, including legendary coaches Loren Seagrave, John Smith and Gunter Lange. Seagrave is the lead lecturer for the IAAF Academy worldwide who produced Canadian sprinter Donovan Bailey, a double-World and Olympic champion and world record holder for the 100m sprint. John Smith is the lead coach for the US-based IAAF Academy who coached American sprinter Maurice Greene, another double-World and Olympic champion and world record holder for the 100m sprint.
