We organise track and field and running events. Our signature annual event is the Kindred Spirit Series. We introduced the Water Run Series in 2021<\/p>\n

On 8 August, 2011, a small group of coaches, athletes and their family members gathered at Bedok Reservoir to complete a walk round on the gravel track, cut a cake, and inaugurate the founding of Singapore\u2019s newest track and field club. (View Album<\/a>)<\/p>\n

Club ZOOM Track & Field had been earlier registered \u2013 on June 18 \u2013 but Founding President Tan Wei Leong picked August 8 as the date for the establishment and launch of the Club. Aside from being a \u2018lucky\u2019 date (8\/8), he had intended the anniversary to be a dual celebration of the Singapore\u2019s national day which falls on the following day, August 9.<\/p>\n

Hagen joined Club Zoom only in end Feb 2023 and without much training, he went on his first overseas trip with Club Zoom to KL in end Feb 2023. That was a great eye-opener for him. He was a tad disappointed that he didn\u2019t win any medals then but it did spur him to train hard and he tasted his first success in the SA-SSSP T&F Meet where he emerged 3rd overall and subsequently led him to clinch 1st in his NSG event.<\/p>\n

Your team of professional, dedicated and friendly coaches has allowed Hagen to thoroughly enjoy the Club Zoom training sessions. Not only had he enhanced his running techniques, the training sessions had also instilled discipline in him, built his perseverance and stretched his endurance. Despite the heavy downpour, it failed to dampen their enthusiasm and they continued to practice their running drills under the shelter. Many of them shared their aspirations with me, such as becoming a cross country runner or a national sprinter.<\/p>\n

It was inspiring to know that Thevandra, one of the young participants, had been putting in hard work and effort in athletics for the past 3 years, which allowed him to get into his secondary school of choice through the DSA scheme. This is the kind of commitment that we witness in all our national athletes, putting in their best, no matter how tough the circumstances are.<\/p>\n

A big thank you to Coach Tan Wei Leong, Club ZOOM SG and the coaches for organising these series of Kids Athletics sessions. Other than learning about the running fundamentals, I\u2019m heartened to know that the coaches place a very strong emphasis on instilling values into the children, which is crucial during their current stage of growth.<\/p>\n
