Announcing the 2020 Club ZOOM – Athletics Northern Territory Track & Field Meeting

IN August last year, I announced at the 6th ‘Kindred Spirit’ Meet that the series is exploring growth to new horizons beyond Singapore. I am proud to announce that in 2020, the ‘Kindred Spirit’ brand will make its presence felt in both Singapore and Darwin, Australia, as a two-leg track and field meet series.

The Darwin meet is the collaborative fruit of a partnership between Club ZOOM Track & Field (Singapore) with Athletics Northern Territory (Darwin, Australia).

Both Club ZOOM and Athletics Northern Territory aspire to be leaders in the promotion of athletics, founded on the belief that sport is a great vehicle for inculcating life values and promoting friendship and cultural exchange. By synergizing on our respective strengths, we hope our collaboration will contribute to the raising of the standard of athletics in South East Asia and Australia by broadening participating athletes’ competitive ecosystems, while opening new frontiers in cultural exchange and business opportunities in the region.

So athletes and coaches, pencil in these dates in your race diaries:

Home Leg – Singapore: August 15-16, 2020
Away Leg – Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia: September 4-6, 2020

  • Both meets may fall within the qualifying window for the 2021 Southeast Asia (SEA) Games. (Check with respective federation)
  • Both home and away meets will be conducted according to World Athletics rules and regulations.
  • Both meets will be sanctioned by the respective local governing athletics federations.
  • Results will be eligible for ratification for qualification at international competitions eg the SEA Games. (Check with respective federation)
  • Records (meet, age group, state, national) set at both meets will be eligible for ratification for their respective record books.
  • Kindred Spirit Series records for the Open category will be attempted in both legs.
  • Best Male and Female Athlete Awards for the Open category will be awarded for each leg with prize monies.

This announcement of a firm go-ahead of this two-leg Kindred Spirit Series meets is intended to offer a heads-up to interested clubs and athletics associations in the SE Asia region and Australia who can then start to plan for their participation early.

More details will be released via the websites and Facebook pages of Club ZOOM Track & Field and Athletics Northern Territory in the coming months.
